Elwyn Augustus Lynn

Elwyn Augustus "Jack" Lynn (6 November 1917 – 22 January 1997) was a prominent Australian artist, art critic, and curator, renowned for his contributions to abstract art and his influential role in Australia's mid-20th-century art scene. Born in Canowindra, New South Wales, Lynn moved with his family to Junee, where his father worked as an assistant fitter for the NSW railways. He attended Junee Intermediate High and Wagga Wagga High School, completing his Leaving Certificate in 1936. Awarded a Teachers' College scholarship, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, majoring in English and history, and later obtained a Diploma of Education from Sydney Teachers College.
