Dora Wilson

Dora Lynnell Wilson (31 August 1883 – 21 November 1946) was a British-born Australian artist renowned for her etchings, pastels, and vibrant street scenes. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Wilson moved with her family to Victoria, Australia, in 1884. She attended Somerset School and Methodist Ladies' College in Melbourne. From 1901 to 1906, she studied at the National Gallery School under Bernard Hall and Frederick McCubbin, where she formed lasting friendships with fellow artists such as Ruth Hollick, Gwendolyn Grant, Norah Gurdon, and Pegg Clarke.
