Israel-Isaac Lipshitz, known as Lippy Lipshitz, was a prominent South African sculptor, painter, and printmaker. Born on May 8, 1903, in Plungė, Lithuania, he moved with his family to Cape Town, South Africa, in 1908. His early education included art lessons from painter Ruth Prowse, and he later studied at the Cape Town School of Art from 1922 to 1925.
